The cafe's multi-cultural menu focuses on simple, healthy fare including soups, breads, salads, sandwiches, and desserts. Locally grown foods come fresh from New Jersey gardens, orchards, farms, and shores. Eating locally with the seasons is a good way to maximize taste and minimize cost. Freshly harvested ingredients tend to have more nutritional value than ingredients that sat in storage. The use of preservatives can be bypassed when food is served fresh, keeping unwanted chemicals out of your diet. And when food is not destined to be transported long distances, it can stay on the vine until ripe, then be served at its peak taste and color. A typical menu includes soups, salads, sandwiches and desserts that feature seasonal produce. Much of our menu is vegetarian. We strive to serve vegan and gluten free options as well. Check the menu board to see which items are vegan. We often feature ethically raised meats including chicken, beef and pork. Our eggs always come from lovely laying hens that strut their stuff in a nearby barnyard. Each day we serve a complimentary community dish, which is the chef's choice. Any of our guests are free to enjoy it free of charge. All of our breads and desserts are produced by the Baking and Pastry Arts students at Elijah's Promise Culinary School. All of our breads are vegan. Each week we usually feature one or two vegan desserts as well. For daily updates, visit our Facebook page.
