Volunteer

A Better World Cafe provides volunteers with a chance to work in a cafe environment, including cooking, cleaning, community interaction, and more. Currently, you may inquire about volunteer positions by visiting the cafe in person. Positions are also posted on Volunteer Hub.

Some of the positions that are currently available are:

• Cafe Volunteer: Helpers are needed Monday-Friday to assist with cafe set up, serving, food prep, dishwashing, clean up and break down. Shifts are 1 to 2 hours or more depending on availability. Volunteers will be scheduled between 10:30am and 3:30pm daily. Individuals can sign up for one time, or for a regular shift. Volunteers will be oriented and supervised by Cafe Staff.
  
• Thursday Program Coordinator: Thursdays will be special days in the life of the cafe. We will relocate lunch service to the larger social hall, and be able to schedule local artists and musicians to share their talents. From art exhibits to artisan displays and sales of their wares, to live music, Thursday will be a wonderful opportunity to bring the community together around food and the arts. The Program Coordinator will be responsible to identify and schedule the program for each Thursday lunch. Hours are flexible.
• Dining Room Coordinator: Will identify and arrange for seasonal decorations and displays in the dining room, maintain a community bulletin board and develop educational and other materials helping a promoted sustainability and the goals of the cafe. Hours are flexible.
• Marketing and PR: This volunteer will help spread the word about the cafe by developing promotional materials, networking with local media and other creative ways to get the word out about the cafe, volunteer and other needs, and get people into the cafe. Hours are flexible.
• Social Network Coordinator: Will develop and maintain social media for the cafe including: Facebook, Twitter, blog and other ways to keep in touch with our cafe community. Hours are flexible.
• Garden Coordinator: Will manage seed starting and growing a variety of herbs and other edible plants that will be used in the cafe both in the church community garden on sure, and window boxes in the cafe. Develop a watering/weeding schedule for others to follow during the week. Hours are flexible.
  
• Merchandising Coordinator: Organize sale of A Better World Cafe branded merchandise such as coffee, aprons, totebags etc. Develop gift certificate materials. Hours are flexible.
